What the heck is a Froglet?

A Common Nighttime Visitor
If you’ve spent any time outside in Austin in the summer, you’ve probably heard the chirping frogs. Now, you may not have realized those chirps came from frogs. You’d be forgiven for thinking they came from birds or perhaps from some sort of cricket. Sometimes when the chirps trill extra fast, it sounds a bit like someone opening a screen door.
Lifecyle of the Rio Grande Chirping Frog
Most of the chirping frogs in the Austin area are fairly new inhabitants (like most human residents as well). There’s a native chirping frog which is nearly identical, but most of the urban ones you’re hearing are of the Rio Grande variety which moved north from their original habitats over the past few decades. One of the things that makes chirping frogs special is that their lifecycle skips the tadpole stage. Instead of laying their eggs in water, they lay eggs in damp earth, from which emerge . . . tiny froglets! So did I call this agency Froglet Marketing because I can help your business leapfrog the difficult early stages and get straight to the mature stage? Or is it just that chirping frogs have cute little noses? You may never know the answer.
